Bruneau jasper cab ~
Offered here is a large, deluxe cabochon of Bruneau Canyon jasper, from Idaho. Looking from the photos to the stone, I have to say this one is more beautiful in hand. It's a squeaky clean example without flaw, and has a full on pattern of orbs stacked one in front of the other. The colors are classic, combining warm hues of creamy peach chiffon on burnt orange with quite a bit of subtle nuance shading. Sadly, the best of this hard porcelain jasper has become alarmingly scarce and spendy these days, and I'm told there's only one fellow actively harvesting material at the claim, time and weather permitting. Bruneau jasper takes an outrageously glassy polish, and when it's nicely patterned like this cab is, it is highly sought after by collectors and designers alike. The stone has a well rounded dome of nearly 7mm, a gracefully fluid designer 'flame' shape, and a superb polish both front and back.
