Royal Sahara jasper cab ~
Offered here is a truly remarkable cabochon of the new Royal Sahara jasper, recently found in the North African Sahara desert. This outstanding porcelain material has so much going for it, it's hard to know where to begin to describe it... It's like the old Deschutes jasper, and like Biggs jasper as well, with even wilder, more exotic patterns. The central eye figure is composed of ribbons of rich russet browns, ochres and creamy tans, with hints of blue-gray and unusual olive green undertones. At opposite sides of the stone, there are interesting black strokes that resemble eyelashes, oddly enough. Try a cab of this amazing jasper and you'll see, this stuff is pure magic. This stone has a high rounded dome of 6mm, and a nearly round shape that frames the remarkable pattern wonderfully well. Like all the more familiar porcelain jaspers, it is very hard, so I was able to polish both front and back to a brilliantly glassy mirror shine.
Size: 38x39mm
