Royal Sahara jasper cab ~
Offered here is a fascinating cabochon of the new Royal Sahara jasper, recently found in the North African Sahara desert. This amazing porcelain material has so much going for it, it's hard to know where to begin to describe it... It has a beauty very similar to the old Deschutes jasper, and Biggs jasper as well, with even more exotic patterns. This remarkable example has a wild ribbony pattern of bands in rich browns and creamy tans, and even blue grays. There's also an area of green and yellowish hues, a bullseye, and some tiny black dendrites, making this one resemble a most peculiar folded landscape. Collectors and jewelry designers alike will find plenty to appreciate in RSJ, no doubt! The cab has a well rounded dome of 6.5mm, and a designer 'paisley' shape that contains the remarkable pattern well. Like all the more familiar porcelain jaspers, this stone is very hard, so it took a fabulous glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 43x32mm
