Dinosaur Bone cab ~
Offered here is a mighty interesting cabochon cut from fossilized dinosaur bone, found in North Dakota. A duckbilled hadrosaur's thigh bone, to be more precise. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, and it is a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. Over millennia, the cells in this fossil bone have been completely replaced with agate, and each is framed with a lattice-like network of webbing in golden tan. Those are the actual cell walls, quite distinct and apparent. Many of the cells themselves resemble tiny thundereggs with blue-white centers, and most have ghostly fortifications that can be clearly discerned. The cab has a high and well rounded dome of 7mm, a sleek designer shape, and a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
