Dinosaur Bone cab ~
Offered here is a large cabochon of Utah's fossilized dinosaur bone, in a most collectibly unusual 'spiderweb' pattern. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. The cells in this fossil bone have been completely replaced with translucent agate, in a lattice of golden tan webbing. Many of the larger cells show centers of a beautiful reddish orange edged with clear agate, and the sponge-like network of webs surrounding them looks utterly amazing! They resemble tiny thundereggs. The stone has a remarkable degree of translucence and depth, but it was tough to capture a decent backlit photo. It's some of the most appealing and unique gem bone I've ever enjoyed cabbing, and there's no doubt it'll create a fabulous item jewelry that is literally a piece of the past! This substantial cab has a high, well rounded dome of 6mm, and a fine glassy polish both front and back.
