Variscite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of gemmy variscite from Clay Canyon, Utah. This is a terrific example of fine old stock material that's become mighty scarce these days. Its spiderwebbed 'windows' of cool minty green remind me of pistachio ice cream (my favorite). This collectible variety of variscite is reknown for the other rare minerals it frequently contains; for instance, the yellowish areas are crandallite, and the greyish eye with tiny bullseyes is composed of wardite and millisite. It's a very unique stone! The cab has a high rounded dome of 7.5mm, a crisp, whimsical shape, and it is polished both front and back.
