Royal Sahara jasper cab ~
Offered here is a splendidly unique cabochon of the new Royal Sahara jasper, recently found in the North African Sahara desert. This amazing porcelain material has so much going for it, it's hard to know where to begin to describe it... It's like the old Deschutes jasper, and like Biggs jasper as well, with even wilder, more exotic patterns. It has ribbons of rich chocolate browns, golden wheat and creamy tans, and areas with an unusual olive green tint. It's quite astonishingly scenic, too, when viewed with some imagination, resembling a jagged mountain peak above cultivated hills. heh I particularly like the swirled bands reaching toward the sky. Royal Sahara jasper is an INSTANT CLASSIC; whether you're a collector or a jewelry designer, try it and you'll see, this stuff is pure magic. This stone has a high rounded dome of 6+mm, and a plump designer teardrop shape that frames the remarkable pattern wonderfully well. Like all the more familiar porcelain jaspers, RSJ is very hard, so I was able to polish both front and back to a brilliant glassy shine.
