Silver in cobaltite cab ~
Offered here is a large cabochon of native silver and cobaltite, from the Cobalt, Ontario, Canada mine. This is a collectibly rare material you definitely don't see everyday, one that's very difficult to find and expensive when you do. I'm told it has a high precious silver content, and certainly looks the part, being surprisingly heavy for its size. The cab took an unbelievably shiny polish, and although the surface may appear bumpy in the photos, it is completely smooth. Very reflective and brilliant in the light, almost like chrome! I think this one's much more captivating in hand, with the added appeal of scattered patches of creamy ivory white that set off the metallics. Surely you can find a special use for such a unique treasure. It has a high rounded dome of 5mm, a crisp designer 'diamond' shape, and a slick, shiny finish both front and back.
