Poppy jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of very unusual poppy jasper. (Recently, in 2013, I've seen it being called 'wormtrack', 'fawn', or 'tidgilite' jasper). When I bought it, he dealer who had the rough couldn't say for sure where it was found, and didn't know its name, but it was so amazing I eventually got all he had. Another fellow, who has similar Arizona material, claims its name is boehmite or bohemite, but since I can't be certain it is the same, I'll just continue offering it as a mystery poppy jasper. As you can see, it has a wildly exotic pattern, very upbeat and festive, to say the least, and it certainly has some unusual colors too. There's burnt orange, rusty red, as well as a couple shades of oddly muted slate blues. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 5.5mm, and a very slick glossy shine both front and back.
Size: 47x40mm
Weight: approximately 56 carats
