Opalite cab ~
Offered here is a unique cabochon of opalite, from the Brush-Wellman beryllium mine in Utah (now closed to any and all collecting). Sometimes known as bertrandite, Tiffany stone, ice cream opal, and even 'Purple Passion', no matter what you call it, it's certainly expressive stuff! I'm told this rare opalite gets its beautiful coloration from fluorite. This richly colored example has both light and dark shades of purple, with a craquelure patchwork of pink, white, black and even bits of red adding extra character. It has a low but nicely rounded dome of 5mm, a long designer 'teardrop' shape, and a fine glossy polish both front and back.
Size: 57x20mm
Weight: approximately 44 carats
Price: SOLD Current gemstones for sale$45.00
