Sonora Sunrise cab ~
Offered here is a bold cabochon of Sonora Sunrise, from Mexico. This fabulous new material has a wonderfully striking color combination, and it is 100% natural. It's on the spendy side, but I think it's well worth it. This fine example has an almost banded pattern of blood red cuprite contrasting against green chrysocolla. Most of the bright red areas are edged with jet black (tenorite?), and there is a very wide black band bisecting the stone, which sets it off beautifully. And there's a paler shade of green and white at the rounded end which adds an extra artistic touch. It's truly amazing stuff, just bristling with designer potential, as this brilliant stone just naturally captures admiring attention wherever it goes. I think you'll do great things with it, in even the simplest of settings. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 6mm, a long and slender designer teardrop shape, and a surprisingly glossy polish both front and back.
