Wave Hill agate cab ~
Offered here is a wild little cab of Wave Hill agate, from Australia's Northern Territory. It's not often that a 'new' material becomes an instant favorite of mine, but these exceptional agates won my heart straight away. This example has outrageous fortification banding in contrasting shades of maroon, pink, orange and white with nearly water-clear agate. A close look reveals a subtle texture, small impressions that I believe are the points of tiny crystals. The clear areas between the bands have what appears to be fine wisps of sagenite, mostly going in one common direction. SIMPLY FASCINATING! The uniqueness of each Wave Hill agate makes it a lapidary's fantasy, a collector's MUST HAVE, and I have no doubt it'll be a jewelry designer's best friend. This cab has a low rounded dome of 4+mm, with a great glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 32x20 mm
Weight: approximately 23 carats
Price: SOLD Current gemstones for sale $40.00
