Cacoxenite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of quartz with inclusions of golden cacoxenite, a rarity cut from grand old Brazilian material. Technically, the inclusions are the mineral goethite, and I can truthfully tell you that those little spikes are the most amazing golden color I've ever seen in rock! Their appearance is like spun gold, and as you can see, they really do look like 'thorns', which are arranged in rows. The backlit photo reveals that the translucent quartz has several raspberry flecks, which are lepidocrosite. There are a few areas of 'fairy frost' inclusions present, but I doubt you'll find that overly distracting. The cab has a well rounded dome of nearly 6mm, and a bright glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 30x15mm
Weight: approximately 17 carats
Price: SOLD Current gemstones for sale $39.00
