Sonora Sunrise cab ~
Offered here is a bold cabochon of Sonora Sunrise, from Mexico. This fabulous new material has a wonderfully striking color combination, and it is 100% natural. It's on the spendy side, but I think it's well worth it. This fine example has an almost banded pattern of blood red cuprite contrasting against green chrysocolla. The bright red areas are edged with jet black (tenorite?), which sets them off even more. And there's a paler shade of green toward the pointed end, which adds an extra artistic touch. It's truly amazing stuff, just bristling with designer potential, as this brilliant stone just naturally captures admiring attention wherever it goes. I think you'll do great things with it, in even the simplest of settings. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 7.5mm, a crisp designer shape, and a surprisingly glossy polish both front and back.
