Royal Sahara jasper cab ~
Offered here is a splendid cabochon of the new Royal Sahara jasper, recently found in the North African Sahara desert. This amazing porcelain material is much like the old Deschutes jasper, and like Biggs jasper as well, with even wilder, more exotic patterns. It has ribbons of rich browns and creamy tans, with lovely banded streaks of blue gray. It's quite astonishingly scenic too, perhaps mirroring the location of its discovery, showing rolling hills and sand dunes. Viewed with a bit of imagination, it could be a photo of that desert world, with an unrelenting sun beating down on a distant hillock. I feel that this new RSJ material is an INSTANT CLASSIC; whether you're a collector or a jewelry designer, try it and you'll see, this stuff is pure magic. The stone has a generously high rounded dome of nearly 8mm, and a gracefully curved designer 'flame' shape that frames the unique pattern beautifully. Just so you're aware, there are a few negligible pinpoint voids that are tough to spot in this stone, nothing distracting. Otherwise, it's perfectly polished to a brilliant glassy finish both front and back.
