Mystery poppy jasper cab ~
Offered here is a striking cabochon of mystery jasper, so called because the dealer who had the rough couldn't say for sure where it was found or what it was. Sorry, but it was so amazing I just had to bring it home and cab it. This stone has a wildly figured pattern that reminds me of lightning strokes (on Mars, perhaps?), and certainly has some remarkable colors; there's rusty reddish orange, burnt orange, yellow-orange, and brick red, with plenty between. The cab has a low but nicely rounded dome, a graceful designer shape, and despite a few tiny areas that are very slightly undercut, there's a smooth glossy shine both front and back.
