Turquoise ~
Offered here is a cabochon of turquoise from China, cut from some goodies brought home by my cousin for me to enjoy. The stone has a strangely appealing avocado green coloration, with strongly contrasting dark chocolate spiderwebbed matrix. I am particularly fond of the way the green fades into a brighter turquoise blue where it meets the matrix; that says gem quality to me! It is likely that the material has been stabilized by a hardening process, as is most modern turquoise, but I do not believe it has been subjected to artificial coloring of any kind. It cut like a dream, and will wear wonderfully, without darkening or dimming over the years. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 6mm, and it is finished with an exceptionally smooth glossy polish both front and back.
