Royal Sahara jasper cab ~
Offered here is a splendid cabochon of the new Royal Sahara jasper, recently found in the North African Sahara desert. This amazing porcelain material has so much going for it, it's hard to know where to begin to describe it... It's like the old Deschutes jasper, and like Biggs jasper as well, with even wilder, more exotic patterns. It has ribbons of rich browns and creamy tans, with lovely banded streaks of blue gray. It's quite astonishingly scenic too, much like the rolling sand dunes of the Sahara desert! Viewed with an eye of imagination, it's like a snapshot of another world, one where there's no such thing as gravity, I think. heh It's an INSTANT CLASSIC; whether you're a collector or a jewelry designer, try it and you'll see, this stuff is pure magic. This stone has a low rounded dome of 4.5mm, and a lozenge shape that frames the remarkable pattern wonderfully well. Like all the more familiar porcelain jaspers, it is very hard, so I was able to polish both front and back to a brilliant mirror shine.
Size: 45x16mm
Weight: approximately 30 carats
