Youngite ~
Offered here is a cabochon of top quality youngite, which I'm told is harvested from caves in Wyoming. Youngite is a very interesting material, fluorescing bright green under UV light. I recently heard that those caves are underwater, meaning that scuba diving gear is now necessary to bring it out. This classic example features brecciated jasper in attractive pink shades, encased in translucent pastel lavender and white agate. The backlit photo reveals that each piece of jasper is fortified with nearly clear agate, resulting in a neat halo effect. There are also a couple interesting drusy pockets, for extra added character. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of nearly 7mm, a crisp symmetrical shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
