Moss opalite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of moss opalite, from Australia, also known as dendritic opalite. This unusual form of opal features a background of strong yellow with an intricate display of dark spidery dendrites. This one's all the more appealing because of the large open areas of pure yellow color, without the sometimes overwhelmingly muddy pattern of too much moss. Nothing dull about this one! And this example also has an odd splash of snow white as well. I've set this material in both gold and silver with beautiful results, but I think the contrast of a silver mounting would show it off best. Of course, that's entirely up to you to decide! The cab has a well rounded dome of 6mm, a designer 'spear' shape, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
