Morrisonite cab ~
Offered here is a large, deluxe cabochon of collectibly rare morrisonite jasper, from the old Morrison Ranch digs in Oregon. This much coveted material is a premier member of the porcelain jasper family that takes a dazzling shine. This intriguing example features blended shades of gold, avocado green, peachy orange and rusty reddish brown, with an unusual pattern that strongly resembles a Japanese watercolor painting, with bold strokes as well as subtle blushing pastels. The more I look at this one, the more I find to appreciate in its artistic figure. Some see a breaking wave, while some recognize a face, and one fellow says there's a tree with a fire breathing dragon. What do you see? It has a well rounded dome of 5mm, a designer 'flame' shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
