Fossil coral cab ~
Offered here is an extraordinary cabochon of ancient fossilized coral, from Indonesia. This fascinating material is some of the nicest I've ever offered, because it's particularly well silicated and has super fancy patterns in contrasting colors. It is composed of the highly silicated fossil remains of colonial sea coral, many millions of years old! This particular stone has an extra showy display of ornate yellow-orange 'flowers', which look a lot like citrus slices floating in a punchbowl. Nearly all of the stone is beautifully gemmy and translucent, as the backlit photo illustrates. Awesome! The cab has a high rounded dome of 6mm, and a crisp designer shape you'll have fun with. Despite some odd micro flecks in the surface texture, mostly on the backside, it took a great glassy polish both front and back.
