Bruneau jasper cab ~
Offered here is a sweet little cabochon of Bruneau Canyon jasper, from Idaho. Looking from the photos to the stone, I have to say this one is more beautiful in hand. It's a squeaky clean example without flaw, and has an understated pattern composed of the edges of multiple orbs, one in front of the other. The colors are classic, combining warm hues of creamy peach and burnt orange chiffon with quite a bit of subtle nuance shading. Sadly, the best of this hard porcelain jasper is becoming alarmingly scarce and spendy these days, and I haven't heard whether anyone's actively harvesting it anymore. Bruneau jasper takes an outrageously glassy polish, and when it's nicely patterned like this cab is, it is highly sought after by collectors and designers alike. The stone has a well rounded dome of 5mm, a gracefully fluid designer shape, and a superb polish both front and back.
