Turquoise ~
Offered here is a cabochon of turquoise, probably from Nevada, if I had to hazard a guess. It features very even turquoise-blue coloration, as well as strongly contrasting jet black and tan matrix. No doubt the material has been stabilized by a hardening process, as is most modern turquoise, but I do not believe it has been subjected to artificial coloring of any kind. It cut like a dream, and will wear wonderfully, without darkening or dimming over the years. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 4.5mm, and it is finished with an exceptionally smooth glossy polish both front and back.
