Mook jasper ~
Offered here is a cabochon of colorful mookaite, or mook jasper, from Australia. This fine grained material, at its best, is very hard and durable, close to porcelain in nature. This example shows some wild strokes of lightning in crimson and maroon, against a background of brilliant lemon yellow, with areas of coral, salmon and white. Quite attractively composed, it'll be just the thing to make your creations stand out from the crowd! The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 5.5mm, a long, crisp shape, and a fine glassy polish both front and back.
