Bloodstone cab ~
Offered here is a designer cabochon of bloodstone, also known as heliotrope, from India. This classic material remains a favorite, treasured by many for its contrasting blood red spots, which are said to be symbolic of the blood of Christ. This pattern in this example has a nice balance of larger splotches and tiny dots of deep blood red, against a background of deep rich greens. There are some hints of bright yellow, as well, adding to the palette. My personal preferences for bloodstones like this is a silver setting, but please feel free to follow your own capable imagination. -smile- The stone has a well rounded dome of 6mm, a sleek 'bullet' shape, and a great glassy finish both front and back.
