Chinese pietersite cab ~
Offered here is a large and extra fancy cabochon of premium pietersite, from China. This eye-catching gemstone has an wonderful degree of chatoyancy, in the swirling reds. Half the stone is shot through with bright gold threads, against a background of translucent purplish agate that lends a nice dimensional depth. Please be sure to click the pics to enlarge them to full size so you get a good look. I should point out that there appears to be a healed fracture at one end, but upon close examination, it's actually a thin band of agate, not a crack. The stone has a very high rounded dome, a sleek stylized 'S' shape, and a fine glassy polish both front and back.
