Offered here is a cabochon of pigeon blood agate, also known as cornelian, from Utah. (No relation to Walter Pidgeon, the old time screen actor, LOL!) This material is so named for its resemblance to splashes or dots that are crimson in color, resembling droplets of pigeon's blood. This classic example is loaded with spots of all sizes, as illustrated by the backlit photo. And it also features a rare 'olive', complete with pimento stuffing, which will appeal to collectors and afficionados of the finest pigeon blood agates. The cab has a well rounded dome, a sleek designer 'paisley' shape, and a brilliantly glassy polish both front and back.
