Cacoxenite in quartz cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of quartz with inclusions of golden cacoxenite, a rarity. Technically, it's the mineral goethite, I can truthfully tell you that those little thorn-like inclusions are the most amazingly bright golden color I've ever seen in rock! Their appearance is like spun gold, and in this splendid example, there are row upon row upon row of golden 'thorns'. The backlit photo reveals that the quartz is ever so slightly amethystine, but I really didn't notice that until I viewed the pic. Very attractive, certainly. This material is seldom seen, particularly in this far above average calibre, and it's a real attention-getter anytime and anywhere it's shown. Hopefully, you will enjoy having and working with this stone as much as I have, and there's little doubt it will be a stunning success in your jewelry. The cab has a very high rounded dome of 5+mm, a bold designer shape, and a fine glassy polish both front and back.
