Moss opalite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of moss opalite, from Australia, also known as dendritic opalite. This unusual form of opal features superb mustard yellow coloration with a terrific display of black spidery dendrites. This one's particularly appealing because of the large open areas of pure yellow color, without the sometimes overwhelmingly muddy pattern of too much moss. Nothing dull or washed out about this baby! I've seen this material set in both gold and silver with delightful results, but I think the contrast of a silver mounting would show it off best. Of course, that's for you to decide! The cab has a very high rounded dome of 6.5mm, a bold designer 'S' shape, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
