Dinosaur bone cab ~
Offered here is a collectibly gorgeous cabochon of fossilized dinosaur bone, from Utah. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. Over millennia, the cells in this fossil bone have been completely replaced with bluish agate, with a blush of pink an orange at the tip. Each cell is framed by the actual cell walls, which are now yellow/orange and edged with black, forever frozen in time. The contrast is nothing short of SPLENDID; very gemmy and unique, to say the least. There are some neat fortifications within some of the cells, as well as some flecks of red; please click the pics to view the closer shots for a visual treat! The cab has a very high and well rounded dome of 9mm, and an excellent glassy polish both front and back.
